The Best Fitness Apps of 2023

In today’s world, where fitness has become an integral part of our lives, technology has played an essential role in bringing fitness apps to our fingertips. With so many fitness apps available on the market, it can be challenging to find the one that suits your needs. The best apps are those that work best for you. In this article, we will look at the best fitness apps of 2023, including MacroFactor and Strength, along with honorable mentions Fitbod and MyFitnessPal.

MacroFactor

The fastest macro tracking app that adjusts to your needs

I switched from MyFitnessPal to MacroFactor earlier in the year. MFP is good for tracking but I was tired of the way it continually tried to upsell and market to me. When you open MFP you get bombarded with marketing and adds even when you purchase the pro version. Because of this, I switched to MacroFactor by the awesome folk behind ‘Stronger by Science‘: Jeff Nippard, Eric Trexler, Greg Nuckols. It’s faster to scan and build your daily foods. It’s all around easier to use and superior to MFP.

MacroFactor uses a unique energy expenditure calculation and all of the weight and nutrition information you log to personalize your calorie intake targets, much like a nutrition coach would.

You tell the app about your stats: height, weight, age; and your goals: to cut, maintain, or gain; and it dynamically creates a macro plan for you. The best part is that through your tracking and weigh-ins, it dynamically adjusts so you can hit your goals. No other app does this. And did I mention it’s blazingly fast to log your food?

MacroFactor keeps pace with your ever-changing energy needs and updates your expenditure estimate as needed to ensure that your calorie targets are appropriate for your goals.

MacroFactor is not a free app so if you want to try it, you’ll have to try a monthly ($11.99) or yearly ($71.99) subscription. It’s obnoxious to have to pay to try the app but this one is definitely worth it. They’re constantly developing new features that improve your quality of life with your macro tracking app.

Strong

An exercise program app that adjusts weekly to your progressive overload

I’ve used FitBod for years. It works well if you are following a FitBod workout, not so much if you have your own programming you’re using, like Jeff Nippard’s Ultimate Push Pull Legs, or Muscle for Life programs. I was writing my own programs into the app but then would have to manually update every week when inevitably my volume or weight would go up (because of progressive overload). This became so tiresome so I searched for an app that would adjust based on what i actually did in my workout, and Strong was that app.

Strong is the simplest, most intuitive workout tracking experience. Trusted by over 3 million users worldwide. It is simpler and more powerful than a notebook and is designed to stay out of your way. Plan your training and track your progress. Visualize your progress with Strong PRO. Keep track of your best sets, max 1RM, body fat percentage, and more.

Strong is simple to setup, simple to use, and adjusts every workout to the volume and weight that you achieve in your workout.

There’s a free version, but you’ll need to pay for a yearly ($29.99) or lifetime ($99.99) subscription to get more than just a few workout templates. If you like the app I’d definitely recommend the lifetime subscription.

Honorable Mentions & Free Options

Fitbod

Fitbod is a weightlifting app that uses artificial intelligence to create personalized workout plans. It analyzes your past workouts and adapts your plan accordingly to help you reach your goals. The app offers video tutorials for each exercise, making it easy to learn the proper form. Fitbod’s AI-driven approach means that users can create a plan that’s tailored to their experience level and goals.

If you want to continue after a few workouts you will have to subscribe to their monthly cost. Worth it if you don’t know what exercises to do and you want ai to help you.

MyFitnessPal

This is the best freemium app for tracking macros. I started with this one and only recently moved away from it. MyFitnessPal is a classic calorie-tracking app that allows you to log your food intake and exercise. It offers a huge database of foods, making it easy to track your macros and micros. The app also integrates with other fitness apps and wearables, such as Fitbit and Apple Health. MyFitnessPal’s simple interface and extensive database make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to track their food intake and monitor their progress.

Conclusion

In conclusion, fitness apps have become an essential part of our lives, and there are many options available on the market that can help you achieve your fitness goals. MacroFactor and Strong are two of the best fitness apps of 2023 that offer personalized approaches to fitness, with Fitbod and MyFitnessPal as honorable mentions. With the right fitness app and a commitment to your fitness goals, you can achieve the results you want.
